Date: Saturday, June 25, 2015 We LOVE first time rappelers! In fact, you will be in good company, as the majority of participants each year have never rappeled before! Participants are expected to arrive 1 hour before their scheduled rappel time. When you arrive on site you will be fitted for a full-body industrial harness, leather gloves and helmet. You will have the opportunity to practice rappelling from a lesser height with Over the Edge staff.
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.
What to wear:Costumes are encouraged…your next profile picture depends on it! Batman, Fred Flinstone and Elvis rappeled last year, so be creative. As long as there are no pieces that could drop, you can wear it! (Capes and wings are allowed as long as they can be secured.)
Please wear sneakers, light hikers, climbing shoes, something with a soft sole. NO sandals, slip-on shoes, slippers, flip flops, high heels, or steel toed boots. The harness goes around your legs, waist, and shoulders, so it is best to avoid wearing anything too bulky. Shirts should be comfortable and without draw cords. Long hair should be tied back.
Spectator Information:Get psyched! Tell your friends and family to come watch as you participate in a unique event and walk away with a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Guests of participants will not be allowed up to the roof top. No worries—the pool deck is where the party is! There will be fun to be had as they wait for you to rappel! And, in case your family and friends can’t come see you in action, there will be a photographer on the roof ensuring that each participant gets a picture.
Additional Information:The rappel takes about 12 minutes on average from roof to pool deck. We encourage you to take in the view on your descent down—cameras and phones are not allowed over the edge with you unless you are using a GoPro helmet camera or otherwise secured device.
